The Tufftride® process is a specialised salt bath nitrocarburizing surface heat treatment performed at approximately 580 °C for relatively short cycles (generally 30 minutes to 3 hours). During treatment, nitrogen and carbon diffuse into the steel surface, creating a hard, wear-resistant case that enhances performance across a wide range of applications.
This treatment can include a controlled oxidation of the compound layer using an oxidising AB1 salt bath, further improving corrosion resistance — functioning as a strong alternative to traditional chrome or nickel plating for many components.
